Another change

Due to popular demand, we've moved book club to August 7th. It will be at Ashley Hansen's house at 7:00 PM. The book is "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak.

Summer break

We won't be meeting in June for book club so you should have plenty of time to read "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak. We'll meet at Ashley Hansen's house on July 31st.

We are also going to talk about what books we would like to read in future months. In fact, we're also going to change how we run this book club. We would like to switch things up by asking for anyone willing to host for a particular month and have that person choose the book. This might allow for a little more participation for those who can't make it every month. We can settle the details later.

North and South Online

For anyone else that is having trouble finding a copy of North and South (by Elizabeth Gaskell, NOT John Jakes), the entire book is available to read for free online. I know it is not the most ideal reading conditions, but I have already read the first two chapters while I wait (for a second time) to receive my book in the mail. Here is the link if anyone is interested: North and South
Just click on the chapters on the left hand side to start reading. I believe it is the full version, but without a print version to compare, I'm not sure. Good luck reading!

Book club updates

We made some changes to the schedule for the next few months.

We've switched to The Magic of Ordinary Days by Howard Creel for April and changed the date. We will be meeting on April 17th at Sarah Enz's home.

For May we will be reading North and South by Elizabeth Gaskill. This book is a little hard to come by so try looking for it now. I will be getting a copy and will try to read it early so that I can pass it on. It is also pretty long so try to start early. We will be meeting on May 22nd at Becky McRae's home.

We've also changed the date of the June meeting but will still be reading The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. We will be meeting on June 12th at Ashley Hansen's home.

Jane Austen anyone?

I saw that you guys read a couple of Jane Austen books so I thought some of you might be interested in this news. Beginning on January 13th, PBS is playing adaptations of her six main novels. Check out this link. I think the channel here in Indy is channel 20 (WFYI) but I'm not sure for those that have real cable. Anyway, it starts at 9:00 PM every Sunday evening.
